I took my truck into Cottman Transmission for a fluid change, and screen change only. They told me to leave it and come back tomorrow. The next day they called and said I needed a transmission, and I had to leave a $500.00 deposit, I did.
The following day cottman demanded that I had to pay the balance of $1,700.00. A day later I was told I needed a Flywheel, and it cost me another $150.00, the following day I needed a starter another $100.00. I was told they would have my truck ready by the end of the week. It was 9 days later, and my truck ran like S*. My engine light was on, the truck was sluggish, it had no power, and Cottman said bring it back and they'll fix it. Well, they didn't fix anything. The more I went back due to the transmission problems, the more excuses cottman used.
Eventually they kept my truck on two ocassions each over 10 days, and the truck still had problems, and the engine light was still on, and they broke my manifold pipe, and wouldn't replace it, and told me not to bring it back because it was a steering column problem. So, I took them to small claims court, and the day of the case, Cottman's attorney had my case moved to another court room to a judge I believe they knew. The judge asked me to prove that it was a transmission problem. I told him that cottman said it was. I showed the judge several diagnostic tests from other transmission shops, which said my transmission was bad, after cottman did an overhaul. The judge dismissed the case without prejudice. I refiled the case and this judge said they would not step on the other judges toes, after reviewing the previous case audio tapes, even after I presented this judge with two different Cottman transmission diagnostic reports stating I have a bad transmission, and keep in mind, this is after they supposed to have overhauled my transmission.
Well, need I say. I lost again. Why, because I couldn't prove deceit or fraud against cottman transmission, and the judge said these people are specialist in their trade, and she believed their witnesses. The judge also told me to take the truck back to cottman and let them fix it. I told the judge NO, because they didn't try to fix it before and I don't trust them, and cottman only offered to fix it after I took the case to court. And dig this, as a kick in my A*, my attorney told me after taking cottman to court for the third time after the case ended, that he is a close family friend to the general manager of cottman transmission, (the same general manager who lied through his teeth in court), and he (my attorney) couldn't disclose this to me earlier because it would have caused the court to throw the case out. Well my attorney was soooooo fired after that. I should sue my former attorney.
