My wife and I brought our Expedition to Grapone Ford for brake work. We were told that the truck needed new calipers and rotors, as well as all new brake lines. I thought this to be odd, considering that 1.) the truck was only 4 years old and brake lines don't go that quick, and 2.) the calipers and rotors were only 4 months old and were installed by a certified dealer. We did not bring the truck to that dealer because we had moved 350 miles to the Concord area.
The tech told me that the only way to fix the lines was to do a complete body off chasis / frame repair which would run me $1,800. I thought that to be totaly nuts. So, long story short, we took it to Midas. One of the rotors was bad, it was warped, they ground it down. The lines were fine and they showed me how a full body off is NOT needed as they do lines everyday without taking a body off of the frame. They said that dealers do it that way because it shoots the labor through the roof.
3 years later, we brought our Expedition to Midas for new lines as there was a leak in one of them, so I replaced all of them for $600, not $1800!
