People Please heed this warning, I purchased a New and a Used Vechicle within two months of each other at the same dealership within thirty miles of my hometown..
With each purchase the dealer Don Whilhelm of Jamestown, ND their motto is (We Stand Behind You After The Sale), they talked us into buying the STarCare Warrenties. For the total added sum of $7,000.00 Dollars. Our pickup is a 96 with 68,000 miles on it when we bought it two years ago. It very seldom left town, this last weekend we went to South Dakota with it and hauled back a small camper which weighted about 2,000 pounds, the booklet says that the pickup is capable of hauling up to 6,000 pounds. On the way back home we noticed that the transmission was slipping.
When we got home and took the camper out, I changed the transmission oil and it was like new yet, I called the dealer that it was bought from and was told the transmission was shot. But that my warrenty was expired as of - two weeks ago - there was nothing they could do but sell me a new one for $2,055.12 with labor. Or I could call the StarCare myself and maybe they would cover it.
Well I did and was told that it was expired and even though the pickup only had 6,000 miles since bought, there was nothing they could do. Well we quickly called and had the Warrenty taken off the new Jeep. And was charged a 300.00 service charge for doing that... My word to you is stay away from any bumper-to-bumper extended warrenties especially one called starcare. And don wilhelm dealership in jamestown nd. Be careful out there, they are all trying to get rich, don't let it be off your backs..
