Daimler-Chrysler Dodges ALL! Warranty Ripoff

I purchased a new dodge dakota king cab pickup and an extended bumper to bumper warranty for 100,000 miles. I was very meticulous about maintenance upkeeping and certainly not a speed demon! The motor started knocking at 57,000 miles. I took it in and was told the motor needed replacing. I showed the extended warranty to the dealership and they informed me that I had been sold a warranty that was not dealership warranty but from a company that had since gone out of business or moved.

The warranty cost approx 1600.00 when I purchased it. I was under the impression the warranty was from the dealership. I had even looked at the warranty after I purchased it.

I was never told I didn't have a dealership warranty. What I didn't know was there were many other things wrong with the truck.

The motor was finally replaced with a used motor from another vehicle that had been wrecked and shipped on a crate on a train from the east coast and had fallen off the crate during shipment and damaged part of the motor, which caused another month delay because the mechanics had to use parts from the old motor, 2 months later the transmission goes out and had to be replaced, the starter then goes out, then alternator, then something electrical and computer in the dash goes bad...

The dealership kept my only vehicle from Nov 00 until Mar 01. After arguing and faxing documentation to prove that I had maintained thorough and proper maintenance on the vehicle since purchase, the warranty company agreed to repair certain things on my vehicle.

Out of 4 months, the dealership paid for two weeks rental vehicle. I had to borrow someone's car part-time to go to work and take my child to daycare. Then I had to pay the dealership for odds and ends such as any hoses, fluids, clamps, brackets, bolts, starter, wiring, parts for the transmission and certain things for the motor.

How much did this nightmare cost? I lost track after the many times/trips I made to the dealership. I can tell you it was hundreds of dollars! Does the truck run well now-HELL NO! But at least it runs.

I'VE LEARNED A VALUABLE LESSON THAT'S SAD-DON'T TRUST THE DEALERSHIPS;if you want an extended warranty make positively sure you are buying what you think you're buying, save every receipt on every thing you do to your vehicle and keep it in a journal if you want the extended warranty to cover the vehicle, study the lemon law and know your rights as a consumer! Don't let them fool you-they'll try! Remember DODGE DODGES!
