I purchased an extended warranty for my car on 9/7. I was never told of any requirements to report a claim. Last5 month I detected a "squeeliong" sound and took it to a repair shop to checkrf the fan belts. After examination, it was found that my air condition compressor was freezing up and causing the belt to squeel.
I am in South Florida where an air condition is a must, and too, not having any information with me relative to the warranty, other than I knew that I have had this warranty for nearly a year, I went ahead and authorized the repair.
After I got home, I retrieved the information and calleed the warranty copany and was told to send the repair bill to them by fax. I did this, two times because after about two weeks they said that the bill had not been received. I had sent it from Staples and still had the receipte. I had Staples to resend the bill. After a couple of days, I call the company only to be told hat the claim had been denied because I didn't get the repair shop to call prior to repairing the air conditioner.
I only wished that I had of checked the company out before I purchased the warranty. Also, the company financed the full 18 months and now if I cancel them, I am still bound to the finance company for the remainded of the $2475.00
I am 75 yrars old and I exist on my social securitty. To have a company to do this to me should be a crime.
