Continental Warranty
Asked for a "Free Quote" and got a high pressure sales person that tried "intimidation tactics" Malibu California

I was shopping around for an extended warranty and filled out their on-line request for a "free quote", and they called me within minutes. I indicated to the representative that I was shopping around for an extended warranty and was only interested in obtaining a quote for comparason and that I was not ready to make an obligation until I had finished my research.

Everything started out smoothly and he explained the coverage. After about 15 minutes I requested that he only need to give me a quote and didn't need to explain all of the details. He quoted me a price of 2149.00, (about 1000.00 over the average quote). He then put me on hold and switched me over to the finance manager.

The Finance Manager had already started working up monthly payments for me and wanted personal information. I explained to him that this whole thing had started as a "free quote" and that I was comparing prices. He insisted on knowing the other companies that I was dealing with and told me that there coverage was inferior.

He started bombarding me with questions and never gave me the opportunity to answer, or at least give my position. The more he spoke, the more belittled I felt. I finally told him that I would call back after my research, (if I decided to go with Continental Warranty). He told me that if I didn't buy the policy "right now", not to bother calling back because he wouldn't be able to provide me with the "special price" and interest free financing. My reply was, "OK, then I guess we won't be doing bussiness", and I hung up the phone.

In summary, don't get hooked into their "free quote" unless you are prepared to buy their Warranty policy for about 1000.00 above the average. The "free quote" is nothing more that a "bait & switch" tactic and they become offensive when you don't "sucker up" to them.
