I have a 2005 GMC Sierra that I have brought into Monro for oil changes since I bought the vehicle. I have not brought this vehicle to anyone else for any other maintenance. On 22 Jan my wife brought the truck in for an oil change. That following weekend I noticed a puddle under the truck.
Upon investigation, I realized the antifreeze was leaking from the area of the water pump. Since the truck is still under warranty, I brought it into the dealer. They notified me that the antifreeze was mixed and it created a chemical reaction that dissolved the water pump gasket.
The exchange of the water pump was covered under warranty but not the flushing. I then notified Monro store manager and he finally admitted that they added some antifreeze that he called chameleon that is designed to mix with any antifreeze on the market. I told him that whatever he used caused the leak and I asked him for compensation to cover my cost for the flushing. He offered to perform the flushing at a discount price. How ironic, that I would pay him to fix a problem that his company caused.
I then called the Corprate office and explained the situation. The office called e back informing me that they talked to the store manager and the regional manager and they were not willing to compensate me for the flushing.
I informed the Corporate Office that I intended to report this to the Better Business Bureau, that I was going to go to usacomplaints.com and that I was going to spread this by word of mouth. This is not good business and all I am asking that they do the right thing by paying for a mistake that they made.
