We bought a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer from John Miles Chevrolet in Conyers, Georgia with the understanding that although it was used it was still under factory warranty due to the age and milege. We even declined to buy an extended warranty because we were told by the dealership it was still under factory warranty.
After about a month, we noticed several items of concern, most notably the transmission was slipping (it's an automatic). When we took it back to the dealership, they told us the vehicle had a "Salvage" title and was therefore NOT under warranty.
After two months of frustration, non-returned phone calls, unacceptable compromises, etc, they finally told us to bring the vehicle back in and they would have a Police Officer inspect the vehicle to see if it had ever been wrecked. If the Police Officer said it hadn't, then they would be able to give it a clean title... We declined this offer as we don't know what the reason for the "Salvage" title is. Flood, vandalism, theft, wreck... Whatever, we don't think a single person's opinion should be enough to change the status of the vehicle.
As of yesterday, the lein-holder told us the vehicle now has a "Clean" title in Georgia, even though it still shows up on CarFax as a "Salvage" title in Texas.
This problem is still unresolved.
