Just the other day I thought I would inquire if Car Hop was someone I would buy a car off of. My wife needs a car and she happended to see Car hop's add on TV. She asked me see if I could get her a car, since she insnt very good at nogotiations. I decided to call car hop. I called and started to ask whether car hop had a honda, they replyed "well you'll just have to come down here, we cant discuss that".
I replyed "why would I come down there if you dont have what I want" after consistantly asking if they had a honda they finnaly replyed "yes we have the only honda at a Car hop in Minnesota" and then they demanded I make an appointment to see the car. At this point I knew I did not want to deal with them to buy a car. I have delt with many dealerships on buying cars and no dealership has ever denied information on their selection of cars on their lot, but decided to go see the Honda anyway.
When I got there I felt very uncomfortable because of the lot and buisness's condition. It looked run down and looked as if they wouldn't be in buisness very long. (i.E.) here today gone tommorrow. They didnt even have a machanic shop on their property. The cars look run down and have no price tags on them so they can scam you for whatever you can afford as I found out later. I was greeted and then seated and asked to wait for a salesman. I said ok and waited for 10 min.
In that time I waited, two People came in complaining about the cars they bought and how they were reciving the runaround about getting their cars fixed. One of them was told, the car they had bought had been sold out from underneath them. So I just wanted to see where this would go. When the salesman finnaly came to talk to me, I asked "to save allot of time, how much is the honda and how much down" he replyed well we cant discuss that right now we dont sell cars we sell credit" I was like so your not a car lot and he changed the subject to we are here to help people with bad credit.
At that point I was not only convinced that this was and is a scam but I wanted to see what it would take to get an accual price from them. After filling out paperwork for 45 Minutes and not getting any answers I finnaly demanded "Am I approved" and he started to give me the runaround saying "things are looking good, if you could bring me more information I can approve you" I replyed "I have given you all the information I going to if I dont get any answers, Iam walking" He said "well you should of brought that information with you".
I explained I had been misled and was never told to bring anything with me. He started to argue with me and I told him I just want to know what is the price of the Honda and how much are the payments or I walk. He finnaly went back to the office and looked at some paperwork for 2 minutes and came back and said " The price of the Honda is $9,450 with $400 dollar a month payments" I knew what the car was worth and it wasnt even worth that, It was worth at the most $2,500.
I told him that and he said "we dont deal the price is what the price is. THIS IS A WARNING, these people are out to rip you off. Here is the scam they figure out what you can afford and then charge you the most they can, if the car breaks down, its your problem and if you end up not being able to make the payment because you have to fix it yourself and you cant because they take everything you make they ruin whatever credit you have left. DO NOT BUY A CAR OFF THEM! This buisness should be put out of buisness.
