Ripoff 10 times to rebuild 1989 Mazda 929 Transmission and still not fixed

December 21 I brought my Mazda 929 to a local Atlanta Cottman Transmission shop to have the transmission re-built since it was slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear. At first, it seemed that I was going to get good service from this shop. The alleged owner, Linda was kind, pleasant to talk to and seemed really concerned about my car. The manager, Charles also quoted a price of $1,500 to fix the tranny. We agreed on that price and I left the car.

As of today, 10/15/05, the car is again, back at this shop for the exact same problem it went in for. For the first 9 times that the car was allegedly fixed, we only had the car for a couple of weeks at best. Telephone complaints to the "corporate" office in New York only puts us back in touch with this shop who "promises" to take care of us.

During the times that this shop had the car, the following damage occurred:

A battery was replaced with an old one
A rainstorm flooded their lot where the car had been sitting for a month, water rose to above the tire level and damaged the interior of the car. We now have a mold problem inside the car due to severe water damage.
The windows were left open on the car during this rainstorm

The left rear driver quarter panel was damaged and promise of repair has not been forthcoming.
The transmission cooler that was put on is in front of the a/c condenser which is causing the a/c to not cool properly. Again, promise of moving it away from the condenser has not occurred.
The interior of the car was filthy from mechanic's greasy fingers.

Two interior trim pieces were broken from this mechanic.
The car sat for three months with repeated lies were told to us that the car was being worked on (we have mechanical training and watched very closely what this Cottman was doing).

This car is used for flower deliveries and due to the failure of Cottman Transmission to repair the car, it has caused loss of business.

Linda and Charles, the alleged owner had offered (for now this time), to provide a vehicle for our use. After 20 times asking for what she promised to us, no vehicle has been forthcoming. The van originally offered did not have a/c and with the type of deliveries we do, a/c was required. It was explained to Linda that the Mazda has a/c and therefore, we would expect the same.instead a small Toyota Corolla was offered and to date, it has not been forthcoming. We get excuses that the Toyota is not ready yet. We have been forced to rent a vehicle from a local rental company with (promise from Cottman to pay). We can only hope this is true. We all the failures of this company and its staff, it would appear that we will need to do a class action lawsuit to recoup all the damages, emotional suffering and downright fraud of this so-called "excellent" transmission shop.
