While on Military Duty in Killeen Texas on 19 August I took my 1999 Grand Prix to Cottman's Transmission. It was discovered the Torque Converter was slipping. Upon talking to the mechanics it was advised to get the transmission rebuild since it had to be pulled to put the torqe converter in. I stated I had no problems with the transmission before but I figured since I was going to do that I would get the best, Cottman's Platinum Service. This cost me a total of $2636.33.
Upon arriving back in ohio I noticed a leak under the car on 21 November I then called and got ahold of a authorized repair shop. They replaced a seal. On 5 December again it was discovered that there was another leak of transmission fluid under the car. I then took the car back to the Authorized repair shop, upon talking to them they stated that they needed to pull the transmission because the leak was blowback. After 2 days the Cottman transmission in Killeen authorized them to pull the transmission.
Upon pulling the transmission the Authorized repair shop noticed the following problems with the rebuilt transmission... Worn clutch hub, burnt thrust washer, worn 2-3 accum pistons, blown channel plate gasket, damaged band, broken oil dam, planet needed reshimming. This is only after less than 5000 miles after a Platinum rebuild where all the bands should be replaced, everything is supposed to be OEM Specifications etc. I had to pay for a rental car and the only answer I got out of the Killeen Office was that was not in the warranty.
Well for one they are SCAMS because according to some of my mechanics I know, they state that with all the problems the transmission was not rebuilt. WATCH OUT WITH COTTMAN IN KILLEEN! Pictures of problems attached that were provided to me by the Authorized repair shop. This is after less than 5000 miles since their PLATINUM REBUILD. I have all documentation from the COTTMAN TRANSMISSION REBUILD RIP OFF!!
