I recently was in the market for a brake job on my four year old Mazda Protege. I was given an estimate of for $450.00 to replace the front pads and rotors. I decided to not have the work done upon receiving the estimate and start to do little research.By the way they charge $10.25 for the "Free Brake Inspection".
I went to the internet to research the parts that were supposedly needed for the job. The Pads were $37.50, the Rotors were $108.00. Total for parts 145.50 plus parts.
Part bill Brandy's Estimate $330.00 plus two hours labor.
I then went to my brother-in-law a mechanic, we replaced the brakes and rotors our self, but even the rotors could have been turned saving the $108.00.
So here is what we learned, check Brandy's Automotive Estimates closely against other bids. Don't fall for their BS lines on how damage you have on your car.
Find a mechanic you can trust.
PS the shop manager was swearing at another customer as I left after double charging him the retail price of a tire they had put on his wife's car.
Bad customer service, rude employess, not professional at all.
