I made my payment August 27/04 by phone and received a confirmation number that the payment was accepted. Two days later the money was debited from my bank account as always. The 15th of September I receive a letter from Capital One Auto Finance that I had defaulted on my account and they were in the process of repossessing my vehicle.
I immediately called and spoke with a customer service rep. I explained to her that I had received this letter and my payment for August was made, that I had the confirmation number and the money had been debited from the bank. She told me the payment was not in the system and would I like to make the payment over the phone. I told her no that I had made the payment and gave her the confirmation number.
She done a search and still no sign of my payment having been made. She then gave me a fax number to their payment investigation department and told me to fax my bank statement to them and they would investigate to find the payment which could take up to 15 days. But until then I was still responsible for my August payment and it had to be made within the next five days before my September payment was due. I faxed the information to the investigation department.
They harrassed for this payment every 20 minutes for the next 5 days. I had made the payment, had the proof I had made the payment, but they wouldn't listen. I ended up having to make a double payment in September to catch this up while they were taking their own sweet time investigating and locating the payment. Now this double payment has caused a financial hardship for me.
Once again in October they started harrassing me again for the missing payment. I told them I had made a double payment in September to catch everything up and asked if they had found my payment they had lost. They denied knowing anything about the missing payment and asked me if I was sure I had made the payment to Capital One Auto Finance. I had to go through the whole faxing my bank statement all over again.
I was unable to make my October payment because of this mess and I called them explaining the situation to them and asked for an extension on my loan for one month so I could get caught up or until they found the missing payment. No go. They would not work with me whatsoever.
Well I had the opportunity to refinance my vehicle with another company and took it to get away from these crooks. The vehicle has been refinanced and they are still harrassing for the payments. They still claim they have no knowledge of the missing payment of $410.00, which is probably in somebody's pocket. I keep telling them the car has been refinanced, but they continue calling to collect the payment. They have even threatened to ruin my credit and repossess the vehicle if I don't continue making my payments.
Whatever you do stay away from this company. They are as crooked as they come and I think my 3 year old grandson has more smarts than some of their customer service reps.
