I am a disabledveteran suffering from agent-orange heart from Nam. Five years ago I purchaseda LC1200 air conditioner from Carlson's Appliances in Santa Monica I had theminstall the unit then they sold me a service contract with Assurant Solutions. I paid every year for four years $around $90.00 each year and $28.65 for thefirst payment this year. One day my landlord said she felt the unit wasdripping to much. I explained to her that I had an service contract and that Iwould have someone look at it. I dealt with customer service and was anappliance tech for over thirty years. I know about serving appliances and musicaudio equipment. When DG service center was sent over they never called to fineout any information regarding the location of the unit what floor I was on oreven how was the unit installed. That would have give the tech all theinformation he needed before coming no call. Then the tech shows up I give hima ten dollar tip before he even starts the work and I clearly said to him" If YOU CAN"T DO THE JOB RIGHT DON"T START IT" he assuredme everything will be o.K. He came with no ladder I had to let him use mine. Nodrop clothes I provided that. He claimed up the ladder removed two srew'sI thought he was going to remove the hood and service it while he was upthere no he came done the ladder went back up sprayed on the radiator someform did something put the two srew's back came down did something more on theunit and gave me a receipt for service done. Great I left and a few hours laterI came back turned on the air and it is leaking worse then before. Now as a x-tech I know some units do that after service. So I called DG appliance servicethey said that they couldn't do service on the unit because it was installedwrong. WHAT!? I explained to them that Carlson sold me the unit they installedthey sold me the service contract and now after four years of paying theservice contract is not valid because it was installed wrong. I called Assurantthey basically said the same thing. What I told them was someone was going toget sued. They said I had to speak with Carlson's I called Carlson's said noway we installed it correctly. They called DG now DG say's I miss understood. Iwas a recon specialist tunnel rat in Nam security for NORAD a military policein the reverse and a CID under cover agent for drugs in the army reserve andcivilian adviser for them. And they think I misunderstood what? At first Iwanted all my payments back from Asssurant Solutions however being a logicalman I thought about it and I felt those four years I paid nothing happened withthe unit so I can't speculate of what could have happened all I can deal withis what happen after I paid this first months service contract payment $28.65. So I called Assurant and believe or not the first few people working basicallyas one said I couldn't care if your a vet or the president that is the way itis. Finally I was able to get some one there. I explained to her my problem andshe understood being she lost her son in Afghanistan she directed me to thewhat they called the presidential phone number and there finally afterexplaining again they agreed to refund me the $28.65. Then I have to have theair conditioner removed because my landlord only gave me three days to resolvethe issue and I was past that she was upset the service caused more problemsthat I had to buy a new portable air conditioner costing me $389.00. So Icalled Carlson's to see if they would for customer service and to help aveteran out being at this point I don't know who is responsible and being theyinstalled it that they would help me out, No they want to charge me $75.00 theyinstalled they srewed up my service contract that is what Assurant Solutonssaid. I feel by them refunding me the $28.65 it showssome form of guilt.
