I took out a cash advance using my Discover Card and after making several payments I found the balance to be steadily increasing. I contacted Discover and they said I cannot pay on the cash advance until pay off the other balance, make sure you read the fine print.in my case it was after I had this card for several years and forgot what the fine print said.
So there I was stuck with a $600.00 balance that is steadily climbing at 23%. I took out a loan with another credit card at a higher rate just to payoff Discover and then a month later transferred the balance back, I did not wait long enough before transferring the money back to Dicover. Because I had a cash advance balance for a few days they charged me interest on that cash advance, also they keep it separate from the other loan and are charging me interest on a balance I cannot pay off until I pay the other balance off. Isn't this illegal? They encourage everone to use that cash advance for emergencies, but don't let you pay it off until all your other balances are paid off, by that time they have earned double there money on what they loaned you. I recommend anyone with a Discover Card to never use that cash advance option, it is a trap/scam and should be illegal. If an individual wants his payment split between two balances thay should have that right.
