I have a Discover Card account with 0% interest. They sent me some convenience checks of which I used one. When it posted to my account, it has a finance rate of over 20%. When I called their customer service, I asked if I could apply more to a monthly payment to pay down that balance with the higher interest rate. I was told NOPE, as it is figure into the total balance owed. So I owe one balance that has a 0% interest rate, another balance that has over 20% and I cannot apply more to a payment of shorten the life of the higher percentage account. I gusee it is time to take the total balance and move it to another card that offers a 0% balance, and close the Discover account. The card was crap anyway, not accepted in many places. Most other credit card companies has a policy where you can apply additional payments to reduce the portion of the higher interest. Not at Discover.
Be aware of this and don't use those convenience checks!
