Refuse to process transaction - explanation: "Try a different credit card"

I purchased a watch for $ 3,800 on Ebay. Listing said "PayPal accepted".

When I tried to make my payment, I was getting the message "try a different credit card". I have 5 different credit cards, one without a credit limit, the other ones with a limit between $ 5,000 and $ 10,000.- No matter which one I tried to use, always the same message "try a different credit card"

When I called them up and asked them what the problem was, the answer was "There is no problem with your credit card but the amount is too high and too risky for us." The seller agreed to take $ 100, - off the purchase price (the amount that PayPal would have charged for this transaction...) and i mailed him a cashier's check.

This company sucks. If anything about $ 99, - is too risky for them, why don't they make it clear instead of saying "try a different credit card". The lady at their call center in the Philippines made it clear that they would not process a transaction for that amount, they are only interested in peanut transactions despite their horrendous fees. Well, they saved me $ 99,56 (Cashier's check was free for me, I only had to pay the First Class stamp)
