I also had a Providian Credit Card. They frequently charged me late fees, which puzzled me because I was always prompt mailing in payments; finally, I noticed one statement on which the due date was a Saturday and the payment was posted the following day. I called them up and pointed out there are no mail or banking services on Sundays, obviously the payment was received by Saturday, and they removed the charge. Needless to say, I closed the account immediately! It's a no-brainer to figure out they are ripping off their customers!
