I sign up for smart card visa card on line. (www.smartcard.com) and I receive the card under providian bank. Everything work fine they send the bill on time for a few months.
They "forgot" to send the bill for may and they add late charge fee to my account. They call my wife and harass her that I was late and they ask for a payment right a way "look for the check book and give the check number!!!" The credit card is not under my wife name I don't understand why they talk with her when the credit card is my responsability? And is under my name?
My wife didn't speak english very good and she give them the check no.
As soon as I got home I call providian and I told them that I never receive any bill / statement from them. They said that's my responsability and I have make sure to pay them even if I don't receive a statement.
The due date everymonth is the 9th.in june I receive the letter with the statement from providian. The stamp on the envelope is may 31st 2002 and the payment due date on the statement is may 09.
They send the statement after they charge the late fee of $25. I ask providian to refund my late fee charge because I didn't get my bill when I supose to get it.
I have the letter with the date and the statement as I state above.
I am wonder if they have 1,000, 000 (one million) accounts and they do this scam to all of the people they make 25,000, 000 in just one month. And they pay taxes to the goverment and they get away with this "legal" scam.
I paid my ballance in full and I close the acccount.
Do not use providian card! If you have a providian credit card transfer the balance and close the account! You can be next!
