The ordeal with this greendot card started about 5 cards ago (there's four cards in front of me right now and all comprised over a thousand dollars if all 5 cards are added).
Firstly, previous claims from others of being unable to speak to live representatives might be true (it's hard to remember if all of the dozen or so calls resulted in pressing numbers and complying with transferring important personal information to a machine over the phone... But I'm pretty sure I've never been able to speak to a live person there). As for the greendot site the pre-recorded messages pawn us off on is apparently for marketing as the primary purpose.
Our reason for a prepaid card is simple. Paypal had stolen money from us for the last time and we decided not to have this happen to us again and wanted a replacement that would not have rights and unrestricted access to our bank account (talk about faith in someone you can't talk to and can't afford to sue!).
