Ripoff on our forebearance agreement, want to deny payments to proceed with foreclosure

My husband was laid off from his state job for budget cuts and hasn't been lucky enough to find employment. Our loan was originally through Associtates and was was bought by Citifinancial and we were not notified of this. Well, due to the financial constraints we got behind in our mortgage payments (3 months) and started the horrific process of "working" with citifinancial to make up the arrears. That was a nightmare I will not go into but suffice it to say we were fed alot of misinformation, they attempted to overcharge us for numerous fees and whenever I thought we had arrangements worked out, our forebearance specialist would change his mind.

We finally entered into our forebearance agreement and the deal was, we payed 1/2 of what we owed in a down payment and obviously had our property taxes and insurance current. Then we would pay an additional $257.00 extra, on top of our mortgage payment each month for 12 months.

Things were going smoothly until February (2 months before our agreement was due to end and our payments would then return to our normal mortgage payment).in February we called our forebearance specialist Isabella R. To see if we could make our payment on March 1 rather than February 29. She stated that would be acceptable so we sent our February payment via western union and called her that day with the control number. Payment was accepted and we received a notice in the mail that our next payment was due March 30 and we were to contact them about bringing our payments down.

On March 27 we sent our next payment via western union and proceeded to think that our account was still in good standing. Low and behold, they deny the full timely payment and now are proceeding with foreclosure unless we pay them $2,700.00!

Once we received the letter, we attempted on numerous occasions to contact Isabella R. And her collegue Conrad F. Of course we always get their voice mail and they NEVER return our calls. They say they want to work with us to "save our house" yet they don't even return our calls. We have, out of fear of losing our home obtained an attorney to file chapter 13. Of course we had to leave voice mail messages for Isabella and Conrad with our filing number, attorneys name, address and phone number. They have completely ignored the fact that we have an attorney and continue to send us mailings of how much we need to pay them to stop foreclosure!

If you have a mortgage with Citifinancial, God help you! If you don't, stay as far away from them as you can. They don't want to help you, they want your home and they will mislead you and overcharge you and make you fight tooth and nail all the while telling you they "are trying to help".

I don't understand how they can deny a full, timely payment to proceed with foreclosure. We were so close to being done with that situation.
