My husband and I purchased our home in August and used Decision One for our loan.
Immediately after closing apparently Decision One sold our loan to Citifiancial. That is where the nightmare began. We made our first payment on October 1st 2001 when it was due and also made an additional payment toward principal only of $100.00.in November we did the same.
Then in November of that same year we received notice that our loan had been sold to Citifinancial and that we were to make future payments to them at the new address.
So in December we made our payment of Principal and Interest, taxes and insurance and sent it to the new lender at the new address again together with an additional $100.00 towards principal only.
Then we started getting notices that we were late, that we owed payments and late charges from October??? The loan was in my husband's name and when he went to apply for credit he was denied because our mortgage was showing late.
It took CitiFinancial four months to clear that matter.
Then, this is the best part, in August when our property insurance was due, CitiFinancial did NOT make the payment even though they had the money in our escrow account.
We did not even find out that the insurance had not been paid until October when our insurance company sent us notification that we had been canceled due to non-payment.
Finally CitiFinancial came through and sent a check to pay our insurance. Now, we come to September. My husband called Citifinacial to "remind" them that our insurance was due to be paid in October and make sure it was paid this time. Of course they rudely told him that of course it would be paid.
Well, it wasn't and once again in 2003 we received notification that our insurance was canceled for non payment. At that point in time we advised CitiFinancial that since they were not responsible enough to make our payments from the escrow account we would no longer escrow our taxes and insurance with them.
From there things really got out of control. Every month when we made our payments of Principal and Interest only, they were applying part of the payment to escrow.
November, December then January, February, March they continued to send us letters that we were late, they reported our mortgage late on my husband's credit report and they harrassed us with phone calls at all hours of the day and night including weekends, Saturday and Sunday.
It took many phone calls, letters and faxes, until April that this matter was finally cleared up, but only credit wise. They still continued to call with harassing phone calls every single month if our payment was not there on the first, I received a call on the 6th asking when they could expect my payment.
Now, we are receiving a phone call from them every single day of the month, leaving a message to call them.
Thank God, we have just re-financed, we had a 3 year prepayment penalty or would have done it prior to now. However, just today, I received a letter in the mail that since we have not paid our "delinquent" property taxes, they have paid them for us and I need to call them immediately to make re-payment arrangements!
We paid our property taxes on December 29th of 2004 and our taxes are not delinquent until March 1. PLEASE someone out there, help to stop these crooks from harassing innocent people.
My husband and I pay our bills on time, have never been late one time with our mortgage payments or any of our bills. We take great pride in our credit and do not deserve the treatment these people at CitiFinancial have been giving us.
They are rude and do not even listen to the facts. I hope someone out there will help to bring a Class Action Suit against these crooks.
I have documentation to prove all of this. Any consumer out there beware, do not use CitiFinancial for anything!
