My husband & co owner of my home passed away. A few months later, I sent them a death certificate. About 9 months after sending the death certificate, I sold our home. Chase refused to remove my husband from the account & sent the check in BOTH our names so we BOTH had to sign it. When I called requesting what I could do with a check made out to a dead man, they said they would change the account & send me a new check if I filed their lengthy paperwork, which had to be notarized & cost money to send. I did this TWICE because they refused to accept it.
After they requested the paperwork a third time (I filed an investigation with them), I filed in small claims court. Now they are refusing to send me a check (the check to my late husband was dated January & I began this process dilligently after being told my bank would not process the check February) stating I need to contact the bank I have my accounts with, this is an issue with them, NOT CHASE. This was the same person that requested I remove my husband's name from the account the third time. My account with Chase is closed, the loan is paid off.
Why wasn't I told this February? Why did they request I spend so much time & wasted energy? They would rather hire an attorney then pay me my money. I will never finance anything through Chase as they are using their status & size to steal my esgrow money. Now I have to take off work & deal with these rude people in court. Thanks, Chase.
