On 12/14/09, I wrote a check on my credit union account to make a payment on my Chase Mortgage. The check was in the amount of $1,284.42. Chase used the check to make BOTH an electronic transfer of $1,284.42 and as a regular check transaction, thereupon obtaining double payment of $1,284.42. When confronted with proof that it obtained double the funds, it refused to return anything and said it would use the extra payment toward next month's mortgage payment. When I persisted, Chase said that I could ask for an inquiry, but it would take months to figure it out and that I should just allow the double payment to stand and have it applied to the next month's bill.
