Manager Called My Employer Pretending to Be a Neighbor

The manager, Pam, called my place of employment. I was 5 days late. She told my boss it was an emergency and that she was my neighbor and needed to talk to me, since I have a terminally ill wife. I rushed to the phone thinking the worst had happened to my wife, and it was only Pam wanting to know when I would be making my payment. Needless to say, my boss was not happy with me and told me that if I was going to be getting these types of calls, I might need to look for employment elsewhere.
