I have been a Bank of America customer for over 13 years. I am struggling to make ends meet right now as an out of work Art educator with a disabled spouse and a small child.

During my over-a-decade long relationship with BofAm (formerly Bank South and Nations Bank) I have have funds laundered from their credit card department through my business account, my checking account number stolen and fraud on my Visa Check Card at least 3 times.

I have had numerous problems with their new visual imaging ATM machines as well as more than rude encounters with incompetent branch managers to the point that I've had to go to their superiors to get satisfaction. I have run into a couple of good managers.

Most recently I had a wire transfer that had a glitch and did not go through to my BofAm account as planned. It was a holiday week and I notified the bank of the situation. I asked them to please hold off returning items as I would have the funds in the bank the next week. I told them I did not have a problem with paying the overdraft fees just to "please don't return the items as I was a long time customer".
No one seemed to know from branch managers to 800 customer service supervisors how to get a hold of "That department". I spent an hour and a half online and found the Vector representative they spoke of. The representative laughed and said he didn't know why the bank had told me to get in touch with him he just sells them the the software. Then he proceeded to tell me how the bank could remedy the situation. I called the bank back and the manager told me she would try. She then came back to the phone and told me it was "too late". The items were already in the process of being returned.

What happens next is almost unfathomable. Not only did they return the items and charge me fees, they allowed the items to go through a second time the very next business day and charged fees all over again for the very same items. When I called to have the duplicate fees refunded I had to get a supervisor who still was unable to help me. They confirmed to me that if the checks had been presented in person the bank would not cash them or charge a fee, but because it was from another bank they allowed them to go through (without funds available) and proceeded to charge me fees all over again. I of course will now have to pay duplicate fees on the merchants end as well because BofAM returned the items twice. The total fees on both ends will be close to $500.00!
