We received from HFC located in Frederick, Maryland a check for $5000 for a loan. That was about 2.5 years ago. Our monthly payments have been 150.00 per month. We still owe 3237.83! The interest rate is absolutely huge!
We had a move from overseas and a change in job income upon returning to Maryland. We became 30 days past due. HFC immediately started calling us and demanding a post dated check.
They charged us an additional 7.00 fee for "wire transfer" fees which is unreal considering we gave them a numbered post dated check. We asked them if they could work with us and possibly lower our interest rate and maybe extend the loan in order to lower our payments. I have read in their brochure that they, as a company, are willing to do that.
However, the Frederick, Maryland branch refuses to even consider this even though it supposedly is company policy! And they harrass us day after day. And they keep charging us the 7.00 for the post dated processing fee even though we give them a check number and routing number and account number. The Frederick, Maryland branch are denying their own company policy to work with us. When I pointed that out to them, they told me they do not have to follow the rules of their own company's policy!
