I have been a member of American Express since 1998 on one card and 5 years previous on another. I have paid my balance in full every 30 days with and average bill being $10,000. I used the card for my business.
I have accumulated almost a million points and had a final balance or 475,000 points.
In August I fell behind and I called American Express that I did. This was because a client did not pay his bill to me. They told me they could work out a repayment plan in the new Care Program and gave an option for 12 months to pay back.
I asked them if I take this, will my points be forfeited and they (Manager in both account and rewards department) told me they would not be. As long as I pay by the 15th of every month. I did this for the entire year without fail.in April inquired about getting some of the points for use on a plane fair and they denied me stating that I would have to be paid in full. They told me once I paid in full I would get all my points. At that point I found out that they cancelled the account.
In May I called the Reward Department inquiring about my points, and they told me that I would get them once I send a letter to the correspondence office of American Express asking for them.instead, I decided to call the CEO's office to confirm this and I spoke to a woman on the CEO's staff. She told me that since the card is now cancelled the point s have been forfeited and she could do nothing for me. That is just the policy she said.
