I paid my credit card on-line, as I always do. I still had my old checking account listed as one of my payment methods (my mistake). I accidentally clicked on that account while paying my bill. Twenty days later I went to make another payment, I saw that my previous payment was kicked back. I called and they could not tell me why. I called my bank and they knew nothing about it. (of course not) So I paid the the amount I was going to pay at that time and the amount that had been kicked back.
At no time during the conversation did the Bank of America rep. Tell me that they charge the amount that got kicked back to a "cash advance" When I saw the cash advance on my next statement, I called and the rep. Told me this is what they do. During this call they miraculously now knew how the money had gotten "kicked back". I talked to the rep and tried to pay over the phone the cash advance amount. He informed me that he would put in a request to have the cash advance amount moved back into my regular purchases amount. He also stated that I would receive a letter informing me of this. I don't know why I believed him. They never informed me that my payment had gotten kick back in the first place.
I never received a letter, and the cash advance amount on my statement keeps going up and up. I have called once again to find out why the cash advance is still there. I was now informed it's "policy" and they only way to get rid of the higher rate on that amount, is to pay they card down to zero. They would not let me make a payment to pay specifically on the cash advance amount.
I don't know about other people, but right now I'm just making ends meet. I would love to pay the card down to zero. My long range plans have me doing that by the end of 2010. So until then, I guess Bank of America is going to keep ripping me off, month after month with a high interest rate.
