My husband and I, unfortunately, opened up an account at BB&T. They say free checking, HA! I used their online bill pay and scheduled all of my bills for my paydate. Somehow, I mistakenly scheduled my mortgage payment for the date I entered the payments instead of my paydate. (easy mistake). When I went to use my debit card I was told it had insuffienct funds, I knew that I had about $500.00 in my account. When I went online and looked, BB&T had paid the $1850.00 for the mortgage payment and even though I had pending charges that came in before that payment, they paid the $1850.00 and charged me $570.00 in NSF fees.
I went to talk with the bank manager and she told me there was nothing she could do to reverse the charges. I told her that the check should never have been paid. I only had $500.00 in my account!!! She told me she was very sorry, there was nothing she could do because it was my mistake.
I am closing my account TODAY!!! BB&T does not have the consumer in mind... They must make a great profit on NSF fees because of their shady practices!!!
