Wells Fargo
Will not return my money after they closed my acct. Ripoff

I was receiving checks from a Wells Fargo customer - I did not have an acct there - and was being charged $5/ check (I was getting a minimum or 3 cks / month). They told me that if I opened a savings acct (which the teller said was free), I could cash the checks for free. Now, I am disabled and need a wheelchair and always used the drive-up window. It is quite the ordeal for me to get from my car into any place, so it wasn't something I felt I wanted to do. I was then told that I could no longer cash checks at the drive-threw. I would have to go inside each time and get my thumb print applied to each check and still be charged the $5/ check. "But I could avoid all of that if I opened that free savings acct.!". So, I figured one trip in and I could go to the drive-up without being charged.
I went with a friend, who I need to assist me whenever I go into any place, and opened up that 'free' savings acct. The lady who helped us was incredibly kind. She took her time, made small talk and throughly explained everything to us. She explained that the 'free' savings acct was free if it maintained a daily minimum of $300. Otherwise, it was "only" a $3 charge per month. Well, that's cheaper than the $5 per check.

We then went to the teller and proceeded to cash 3 checks that I had, depositing $25 into my savings acct. Which was required to open the acct. And we were on our merry way.

Within a week I was notified by Wells Fargo that for everyones their's and protection (?), they decide to close my savings acct. They stated that a credit report had been obtained and if I wanted to see my credit report, I could do so, for free, within the next 60 days. They gave me a date when my "account would finish closing" and on that day they would send me a check for the amount of money remaining in my account, to the address on record.

I decided to check out that credit report. When I attempted to get it, I was asked for a "account denied date". I offered every date that was put on the letter Wells Fargo had sent me and none of them worked. So, I called Wells Fargo and asked for my "account denied date". That person couldn't help me. Gave me a number to try. Called that number. Couldn't help me. Gave me another number to try. Couldn't help me. Gave me another number to try. Told me to call person who opened up my acct. Called her, left message. Didn't call me back.

So, I'm calling numbers for Wells Fargo. Each time being told that I needed to talk to someone else, and given a phone number. Then leaving messages for people who don't bother to call me back. Now, this is just to get a "account denial date" so I can get a look at what was on my credit report that was bad enough to have them close A SAVINGS ACCOUNT!

In the meantime, my $25 isn't showing up and it's past the date they claimed they were going to send it to me. So, I began with the phone game. I got the same run around. Call after call. Message after message. When I did talk to someone who seemed to know something, she told me she would send me a letter concerning the $25 and explain why I had not received my $25 yet. I haven't received that letter yet, either.

I have also emailed them twice. I had to use a general email address since my account was closed and will not allow me to send a personal one since I no longer have an account number.

It has now been 64 days since I received the letter from Wells Fargo telling me they were closing my savings account due to info on my credit report. I have yet to see my $25, or get a "account denial date".
I want my $25 and since it is past the 60 days allowed to receive a free credit report, I want them to pay for my credit report.

I have now written to Comptroller of the Currency and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
How ironic that they close my acct. Because of bad credit, yet they don't send me my $25.
