I have a "free" Wells Fargo checking account. Recently, I noticed fees charged against my account for "free" bill pay. I never signed up for bill pay for this account. I tried to cancel the bill pay online, and it said that I was not enrolled in bill pay. (the service they were charging me for)
I called the bank and they said I was automatically signed up. Wells Fargo rep said she would remove the fees immediately, but never did yet.
I used to have an interest bearing Wells Fargo checking account and they also slipped in bogus fees for having a savings account. They charged me $60 for just having savings account!
I am now in the process of closing this account and will never again do business with Wells Fargo.
Beware customers of Wells Fargo. It is my experience that Wells Fargo is "fee hungry" and may be charging un-warrented fees against "free" accounts, without notification.
