First incident:
I came back to the States after being stationed in Germany and I opened an account at Wells Fargo. Later I moved to a new location and due to the inconvenience of driving so far to the bank, I closed my account. A few weeks later I tried to open an account at a closer bank, but I was denied.
WF had reported me to a credit agency. I called the number that the bank gave me and found out it was WF who did it. So I called WF to find out why. It turns out that I was $10.00 minus in the closed account. After doiing some research and checking my old statements, I realised that it was impossible. I called a lot of numbers at WF and nobody could help me. Every person I talked to told me the same thing.
I called the Credit reporting agency and explained to them my situation. They did an investigation and found out that I was correct and Wells Fargo was in the wrong. I followed all of the steps and talked with Wells Fargo some more but to this day, they will not fix the problem or clear my name from the Credit agency. It has been 7 years now.
Second incident:
I had set up a stock purchase plan through my company and as luck would have it, it was through Wells Fargo. After some time, I needed to cash in on some of my stocks, so I sold them and received the check in the mail. It was written by Wells Fargo from their bank and made out to me. Everything was fine until I went to a Wells Fargo to cash it. Wells Fargo would not cash the check because I did not have an account with them. They also would not open an account for me so that I could cash these checks because of their earlier mystake. I got in a heated argument with the teller and manager over this to the point that she almost called the police. I could not believe that Wells Fargo would not cash a check that they wrote from their own bank. I finally found a bank that would allow me to open an account and accept the check.
