Deceptive Payment Posting OnLine Statement Poway

Be aware that Capital One doesn't honor its own statement of how online payments are posted. They have it posted that payments made before 3:00pm estern time will be posted the same business day. Reading this I made an electronic payment at 9:00am (pacific standard time) fully expecting this payment to be available later the same evening. When I got home from work, 6:00pm (pacific standard time ~ 9pm eastern time) I thought I should verify my available balance before leaving to take my son out to celebrate his college graduation. I didn't want any surprises or embarrassment. Lo and behold, no payment credited or even showing payment made on my online activity. So I called the customer service. After wading through all the "please enter this number and please enter that number" menu, I made it through to a live person. I'm sure this was an ace represntative, she certainly had memorized all of Capital One's rote responses, she prefaced each of her responses with either a "You are correct Mrs. A" or "I appreciate your calling Capital One Mrs. A". But she was not able to explain why I hadn't received my credit for the payment made earlier that day. So, I asked to speak with a supervisor. That wasn't any better. After holding for a few minutes, I had to refresh the view of my Capital One on line statement. Guess what, now I see the payment I made that morning showing as received, but my balance still didn't reflect any credit. The equally young supervisor comes on line and tells me this junk that the payment had in fact been received, but because my balance average was high I had only been credited $5.00. I repeated this stupitity back to her just to make sure she heard how sensless it sounded. I make a $30.00 payment, but because my average balance is high I only get a credited for $5.00?!! She confirmed this was what she was seeing... Please.

By now, my son is calling wondering where we all were, everyone is at the resturant waiting for us. I'm totally amazed and dumbfounded at the ignorance of Capital One's "customer service" reps. Still without credit on my balance, and no explanation as to how the web site can claims payments made before 3:00est will posted same day, when in reality its next day. I'll be shopping for a new credit card company. Just be aware, and if you need same day posting of a payment to your Capital One Credit Card, know that what "same day" means to most of us, actually means "next day" to CapOne.

Guess what I'm taking out of my wallet??!

Just before posting this I checked my online cap one account ~ they finally got my account credited. Of course it was too late for my sons graduation dinner party, and had I not checked earlier I would have accrued a hefty overlimit fee. Maybe thats what Capital One was hoping would happen??!
