I can not make it to a banking center during normal business hours due to work, so I went to the ATM to make a deposit as I always do. Well this time I had to deposit cash. I was nervous about it so I called the customer service dept. And asked what the handling process was, she told me that when the bank opened a Teller comes and takes the deposit envelpoes from the ATM and brings them into the bank for processing. I said OK fine, a few of the tellers there know me, since it will not pass thru a bunch of hands, I will deposit the cash.
I ALSO checked their deposit envelopes they supply at the ATM to make sure it DIDNT say DO NOT deposit cash, they didnt. It said enclose cash or checks and seal envel. So i did. Well, let me tell you, I wish I hadnt. The money cleared adn was entered in as a deposit and credited to my account. 5 hours later, $320 was taken from my acct as a debit. (The deposit I had made was for 323) I called CS, got no where, I called the branch specifically and was told OH YA that envelope was found, it was open and only had $3 in it, you must have forgot to put the rest of the money in and seal it! I was like WHAT??? YA OK My daughter saw me put ALL my money in that envelope.
SO get this - I ask her about the procdure of emptying the ATM, she said the rep that told me they do it was wrong, that one of the security trucks takes them and brings them to a distrubtion center in another state!!! I would NEVER have deposited cash if I had known that was the way they did it. NOW there may be some of y'all sayin I was stupid for deposting cash BUT as far as I was concerned I thought I could trust my own damn bank and employees ok. PLUS I had, absolutely had to deposit that money, I would never get there when they were open, couldnt wait until the following saturday.
NOW bottom line to this, they tell me there is nothing they can do, that I must have made a mistake!!! WHAT WHY, cuz bank tellers have NEVER stolen money before??? Seriously, yes, there is nothing I can do. WHAT DO I DO??? This is insane, I feel helpless, and $300 short I might add
