After 31 years of paying our homeowners fire and casualty insurance to State Farm on time; they have made the decision to not renewel our policy because of our overall claim activity.
They had written letters in the past stating that our claims were above the national norm and that we should see our agent. We can not help that our house and garage are located on a corner behind a very busy main street.
Our garage has been hit by cars being chased by police, drunken drivers, several semi - trucks and trucks making deliveries. Many of the times it was hit and run damage.
In some case we never even called the insurance or the police. They even raised our deductable from $100 to $500. Thinking this would stop us from making claims.
But if your garage is hit by a semi - truck and your roof can be seen standing up several blocks away I think you file a claim. There were also wind damage and water damage claims due to bad weather and usually thses claims were filed after a state of emergency was enstated.
I checked our Choice Trust numbers and my husbands is 719 and mine is 768. I'm told these are average. How does this notice affect my getting another insurance policy from another insurance company. Should I go to my bank, since they hold the mortgage and ask for insurance through them? I really do not want to appeal. I feel that if I appeal that they are gonna double my deductable and cost of this policy anyway. I need someone to give me advice.
