Capital One Auto Finance has been trying to collect a debt owed by one of my former roomates by continually calling and harrassing me on my personal cell phone number. Here's what happened:
I have been recieving numerous calls from Capital One Auto Finance. After recieving dozens and dozens of calls throughout the last week to my PERSONAL CELL PHONE, I finally answered after the 4th call in under 1 hour. The lady asked for Kyle. I had a roommate named Kyle but that is not me. The lady told me it was personal business and she demanded to talk to Kyle. I told her she was calling my personal cell phone number and that I am not connected to Kyle in any way other then being a former roomate. I told her to please stop calling me as I had nothing to do with this matter. She hung up... And called back 20 minutes later. This time I told her that she was harrassing me and to stop all calls. I told her I did not owe her company any money and that Kyle and I are not personally involved in any way.
In fact he has moved out of my home and does not even live with me anymore. I explained all this and told the lady what she was doing was illegal. I asked her again to stop harrassing me with these phone calls. She told me that it was indeed legal and that she would in fact keep calling me over and over until she talked to Kyle. I told her over and over that I am not Kyle's wife, relative or in any other way involved with him or this matter. She told me Kyle had listed this number as a contact. This is false, completely untrue! I did not even know Kyle when he purchased the car in question and Kyle himself told me there is no way he ever put my number as a contact, especially as he did not know me when this debt was incurred.
NO matter how much I insist she stop calling she keeps calling. She is rude, threatening and extremely harrassing. I don't know how she got my number and I don't even know for sure it's my former roomate Kyle she is trying to call. I asked her to give me her name, the full name of the Kyle she was calling, and other personal info to get to the bottom of this. She refused. Just kept demanding I put Kyle on the phone. I did call Kyle and asked him to please get my number off this list but for whatever reasons it's just not happening. The calls will not stop and I need HELP!!! I have nothing to do with this matter. I don't owe this company anything! I just want this company to stop harrassing me.
