Shady Debt Verification

Recently, I requested debt validation from Asset Acceptance regarding an illegally re-aged debt appearing on my credit report. I specifically asked for proof that AA purchased this debt, and also for all itemized statements and original credit agreement/application with my signature.

What I received in the mail was a shady looking vague xerox copy of four of the last statements from the original creditor, where is shows that the debt was written off. There is a posting of a $50 payment after the debt was written off, and I heard this is an illegal tactic used by AA to start the SOL. From what I've read, they post someone else's payment to your account "mistakenly" and will admit to it and take it off when pressed.

I am wondering about the validity of the shady xeroxed forms I received from Merchants' Credit Guide Company, and if they can indeed be considered validation for Asset Acceptance. I specifically said I would not accept a sworn statement from and AA employee or contractor, and I would consider this Merchants' Credit Guide Company to be a contractor.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
