Davis Law Associates tried to rip-off my friends. They are two widow ladies, a mother and daughter who live together. The mother is on Social Security and the daughter only makes about $500.00 a month.
They claim the daughter owes them over $4,500.00. The debt owed is bogus. The mother was called repeatedly, sometimes 3 times a day, when the daughter was not there. They told the mother several times, "Your daughter is in a real pickle and in a lot of trouble, she better get a hold of us!"
Eventually they reached the daughter and talked to her. They were threatening to sue her and garnish her wages. They implied all they had to do was call her employer and tell them to garnish her wages and it would happen. Within a few days, a letter from Davis Law Associates arrived asking for the full payment and listing the creditor as CACH, LLC.
After the letter arrived and many more phone calls were received, the mother and daughter both became very upset and were crying. At this time, they convinced the mother to give them a credit card number so they could mail some papers that would supposedly explain the debt. They assured her the credit card would not be charged unless the paperwork was filled out, signed and faxed back to them.
When I found out she had given them a credit card number, which was about 5 minutes after she talked to them, I told her to immediately call the credit card fraud center and report there may be fraudulent charges on her credit card. Sure enough, the charge was on her credit card when she called the fraud center. Apparently, the second Davis Law Associates got the credit card number they charged her credit card with a $4,500.00 charge. Several charges for airline tickets also appeared on her credit card the same day she talked to Davis Law Associates. THEY ARE LIARS AND CHEATS!
When the credit card fraud center called Davis Law Associates, they said they didn't know what the charge was for and immediately reversed the charge. The airlines also removed the charges from her credit card. AMAZING, isn't it? The good guys do win one every now and then!
I helped the daughter write a response to the letter she received and mail it certified mail, return receipt requested. So far we haven't heard back from the slime balls at Davis Law Associates.
Hopefully, they will crawl back under the rock they slithered out from under and we won't hear from them again.
