Hi folks, I am trying to stop the telephone calls from Merchant Credit Guide, the infamous Ken Hughes, without getting deeper into their vermin-like grasp. I do not have any written communications from them and I have not returned any of their phone calls. I am absolutely sure that their calls are regarding an old credit card debt from 1995, which I know is well beyond the S.O.L. Here in Texas. From what I read on all these sites it is advisable not to talk to them on the telephone and to only communicate with them in writing.
About 6 weeks ago, in hopes of stopping the telephone calls, I sent them a dispute/validation certified letter, even though I knew it was way beyond the 30 day rule. I had no account number, so I referenced my telephone number, which they had anyway. Unfortunately that letter just made the status worse,
... No written response but the calls went from 1 a week to almost daily.
Is there a certain type of letter that will make them go away without aggreviating the situation further. I was considering:
a) Cease & Desist letter
b) Cease Communications letter
c) Cease & Desist - Past the S.O.L. Letter
Any advice on which letter to write would be appreciated.
