We orginally had our home financed through Green Point, we had no problems with them. They were quite understanding about late payments and even offered to move our payment date to the end of the month to help out. About three years after we had purchased our home we were dumb founded to find out that we owed back taxes on it. Unable to pay the full amount we opted to contact Green Point, they again stepped up to the plate and helped us out by paying the taxes owed. We agreed to pay one year of an extra $100.00 on our mortgage payment, in order to repay the amount they paid in back taxes.
Almost a year to the date that Green Point paid our back taxes, we got a letter that Green Point had went bankrupt and sold out to Green Tree Servicing LLC. Now starts our dilemma. We have now been with Green Tree for almost a year and are still paying the extra $100.00. I have tried to resolve the matter but was told that there was no agreement of 1 year. As if this lady was there when I made the agreement with Green Point.
We also have been a victim of their insurance fraud. They told us they had no proof of insurance. I contacted Noel at our insurance company and had her send a copy of our policy to them. Shortly after that we recieved notice in the mail that they had added their own insurance to our home.
I called the 800 number and talked to customer service and was told they did have our insurance company down and that the insurance they had added would be taken off. A few months later I was contacted by one of their agents because I supposively owed them $124.00 for insurance they were providing. The agent then told me that they did show we had insurance on our home but that we didn't from January to April. We've been with the same insurance company for four years. So, I again contacted my insurance company and they faxed a copy to Green Tree the same day. Showing that we indeed did have coverage on our home at the time in question.
You would think that would concluded the dilemma. No, now she's claiming that the money is for our back taxes. An extra warning when dealing with an agent from this company, they are down right out rude. I was asked when I could pay the $124.00, I responded that I didn't know. I do have other bills to pay and four children to provide for. I was told that he did not believe me and thought I knew when I could pay it.
My husband was contacted at work by Green Tree Servicing LLC, he nicely requested not to be contacted again at that number. (Which happens to be a cell phone that the company he works for provided him with). The next day he recieved 6 phone calls from them at the number he had requested they not call again. I won't give up until I resolve this and in the meantime I am looking into refinancing with someone else.
