Kluger Marketing Group - Pro Marketing Group - JD Foley And Associates ripoff vague job description weird interview scam

I recently interviewed with Kluger Marketing Group, which is underneath the Pro Marketing Group umbrella. I had a weird feeling before I even went to the interview. They had numerous ads on various internet job search sites, and they seemed way too desperate. They ads also had very vague job descriptions, and insisted on "sports minded individuals" and "entry level marketing candidates." I also noticed other companies, such as JD Foley and Associates (of OKC) and Bradley Clarke and Associates (of Dallas) with eerily similar ads, with the same vague wording. *also if you check out jdfoley.com and bradleyclarke.com you will see that the websites are exactly the same.

Well I submitted my resume to all 3 companies, and recieved feedback within about 2 days. They all emailed me back to set up an interview, so I called JD Foley and Kluger Marketing Group to set up interviews. My first was with Kluger Marketing Group. They seemed overly eager to get me interviewed as fast as possible (which I thought "oh they must really like my resume!") I went in for the interview, which was supposed to be at 10:30 am. I walked into the office, located in downtown OKC, and got a real "shady" vibe. There were about 10 other people waiting to be interviewed, all looking around like "what are we getting ourselves into?" I didn't get in to my interview until about 11:15, with no apologies about my wait.

During the interview, the President of the company went over my resume for about 5 minutes. He was trying to seem interested in my education and experience, although he was not doing a very good job. One part of my resume says that I managed 10 sales associates at my current job. He asks me, "so how many sales associates did you manage at your job?", when it was right there in front of him! After about 5 minutes of talking about me, here comes about 20 minutes of a sleazy, uncomfortable sales pitch about how great this company is, and how they work with Fortune 500 companies. They say that there is 100% promotion from within, and you must go through their 4 step traning process so they can "mold" you into a manager. They say that eventually you will be the owner of your own little office that does this same exact thing: direct marketing for Fortune 500 companies. The guy goes on to say that Bill Gates is wanting to work with him, and he simply does not have enough management to do this, that is why the company is expanding. Ha ha. An interview is supposed to be me selling myself to the company, and this one felt like they were trying to sell the company to me and sucker me in to their weird little pyramid scheme.

Afterwards, the guy told me that if I qualified for a 2nd interview he would call me between 5 and 6pm, but "don't take it personally if you don't get a call, we just need the most qualified people for the job." He then went on to say that after interviewing about 30 people the day before he didn't choose anyone to come back. Yeah right, he was just saying that so when I did get a call I would feel special (part of their brainwashing scheme I guess)

The 2nd interview would be an all day interview (9am-5pm) where he would "test my personality" and see if I was a good fit. When I left I felt sick to my stomach, ready to get out of there! It almost felt like I was an audience member of a cheesy informercial about this company. I thought that after the interview I would understand what the company actually did, but I left more confused than when I went in!

Well sure enough I got a call back at 5pm saying "congratulations! You qualify for a 2nd interview." I went ahead and scheduled my 2nd interview, thinking maybe I was just being too skeptical. I decided to do some research on these companies, and it led me to this website. As soon as I read some of the reports, I called and cancelled my all day interview (which was supposed to be today). I am so glad I found others that have gone through with the 2nd interview, because their horror stories saved me from having to go through this myself!

Apparently this job ends up being a door to door sales job, 100% commission, and most people end up broke and in debt. There are no real benefits, even though the ads say *benefits* and never explains what they are. Moral of the story... If you have a gut feeling that something is a scam or seems too good to be true, it probably is! Do your research, especially if you have never heard of a company. And also, if the job description is so vague and confusing that when you try to explain to your friends what you would be doing and you don't even fully understand what you are saying, there is a definite problem!

Although I didn't witness anything other than the creepy 1st interview with this company, I do believe something is definitely wrong with these marketing companies. Especially after reading about others' experiences, I have noticed that these kind of businesses are all over the country. Keep your eyes open!!
