This whole mess started about 18 months ago when, due to extenuating circmstances, I fell behind in my house payment. Homecomings agreed to a repayment plan to get me caught up in my payments. I made every payment on time for the entire 12 months. At that time, September of I recieved a phone call from Homecomings saying, Congratulations, you have successfully completed your repayment plan and you may now resume your regular monthly payments.
Two days after recieveing the original phone call I recieved a second call saying, OOPS, sorry, we made a mistake, you still owe somewhere around $7,000 or $8,000 dollars to bring the loan current. At that time they were unable to even tell me exactly how much I needed to pay to bring the loan current.
At this time I was told that a new repayment plan would be set up and the paper work would be sent to me for my signature. I was also told at this time not to send in amy money because, until the new plan was signed, that the money would not be posted to my account. Therefore, doing as I was told to do, I did not send in the payment for September.
By October 15, when the next payment was due, I still had not recieved the repayment plan or any other communication from Homecomings. At that time I again started calling. I placed numerous calls to Homecomings that went completely unanswered. Most of these calls were nothing more than being placed on hold for as long as 55 minutes at a time. I have all of the copies of my phone bills to verify this. Finally, near the end of November after still another payment was not sent, I was able to speak with someone who informed me that the person who was handeling my account had been moved to another department and was given the name of the new person handeling the account.
I began calling the new person, again with no responce to my calls or messages left for her to call me back. Finally, in December I was able to speak with this peraon, who told me she was sorry that it had taken so long to get to my account because she had been so busy. She said that she would take care of this immediately, and, oh, by the way, there had been an increase in my interest rate that would result in a 350.00 increase in my monthly payment. I was told to expect the paperwork within the week. Again NOTHING came from Homecomings.
And, of course, no responce to multiple phone calls.
January came and went with even more phone calls being unaswered, NOTHING. February came, and again I was told the paper work would be to me within the week, and, again NOTHING. I am now 5 months behind in my house payment because, as with every conversation (and keep in mind there are very few that I actually got to speak with a live person), I was told not to send any money to them because it would not be credited to my account until the paperwork was signed.
At this time I began trying to refinance my home with anyone else simply to get away from Homecomings, and, because my home is listed with them as being in foreclosure, NO ONE will refinance.
I did finally find one company who was willing to work with me, but they needed a letter from Homecomings stating that their was no payment, now for the past 6 months, to my account because THEY told me not to send any money. GUESS WHAT - Homecomings refused to put this in writing, so now that company won't help me out either.
Also, because of their negative reporting to the credit bureaus, my credit score is now down to a whopping 438.
Two days ago I finally spoke with the representative handeling my account, and this is where we now stand. They have, again raised my interest rate, now taking my payment from 1200.00 per month to 1639.00 per month, I am to send them 3600.00 as a "down payment" on the new repayment plan, if I make the payments on time for 6 months they will then "review" the account and possibly extend it another 6 months to get me caught up. And, by the way, I was suppose to recieve the paperwork via E mail yesterday. What I recieved yesterday was an E mail stating that someone else now needs to review the account and that I would not recieve the paperwork until sometime next week. Today I recieved a voice message saying call them, I need to send them more information.
I am single mom of 14 year and am just trying to provide a home for my family. They have raised my payments to the point where I am looking for a second job to make ends meet and save my home. Because of what they have done, I can't even rent an apartment, much less buy another home due to my poor credit score.
PLEASE, PLEASE, if anyone out there knows of any way I can refinace my home with anyone else PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I am on the verge of losing my house to these liars and crooks.
I don't understand, with all the negative things that pop up everywhere about this company, that someone out there can't help the honest people that are being destroyed by them.
