Bank of America is a sloppy bank and no one should use them! I recently deposited a check into my account in the amount of $2,500. The check CLEARED in my account the next day and the funds were listed as AVAILABLE.
Based on that info, I immediately began writing checks for bills and made purchases with my debit card. It was not until a whole 5 DAYS LATER did BOA do their homework to find out if the check was actually good. Not only did they NOT notify me, but they also removed all the funds from my account, placing my account in the negative.
When I contacted BOA, they made it out to be my fault and basically said there was nothing that they could do about the $1990 worth of checks that I had just written against the money that was supposedly now not available anymore! Furthermore, my account then reflected a negative balance and I would incur overdraft fees. The rep went on to say that it would be my responsibility to take up this matter with my local bank in regards to any overdraft fees incurred.
This is bad business! WHile it may be partially the fault of the person who wrote me a bad check, BOA is equally responsibe. They do not exercise good customer service!
