They advertise a credit card online with specific requirements. I met them easily, so I applied.
Later they write me telling me I defaulted on an open account. No, I hadn't. They checked and found that indeed I had not defaulted. They'd look into it.
I called back and they told me my card was denied for something that happened ten years ago which had nothing to do with the application or its requirements.
So first they denied me a card whose qualification I met for a lie, then they made up an entirely new reason.
I wonder if they did this because I had a Capital One card as a higher rate with an annual fee?
