Six months ago I requested a Capital One credit card because of all the advertising which said, "No blackout days, " "No hassle, " "What's in your wallet?" and specific implications that Capital One would be a better card for airline mileage.
We got the card as I was making capital or big dollar improvements to my home office, and used it for $26,000 plus, and was never late with payments in full.
Then I went to use the mileage and found I had none.
When you get a Capital One card you have to specifically request a mileage card, but no one told us that either over the phone and it wasn't on the credit card application, at least not in a place where you could see it. No where did it say, "Now which card do you want?"
Then try to reach a living person over the phone. Out of some 15 to 20 recorded prompts on the phone number given, there is not one for speaking to a person.
After my secretary and I spent about an hour re-doing prompts, talking to Pricilla (gave me a wrong direct-dial number then cut the connection), talking to Nancy (cut off again getting a dial tone by Capital One), called now four times, speaking to manager Alice who wasn't particularly nice. I asked her to either give me the mileage I'm due, or cancel the card. She also denied that Capital One doesn't tell you which card you are getting. I canceled the card. They are a real rip-off.
