In May, My ex-husband tried to pay off his credit card. The Credit card company messed up and put his name on the top of one of my checks and did a an electronic payment for $810. My bank accepted the check and immediately took the money from my account.
Needless to say, I didn't have close to that in there, so the insufficient fund fees started adding up. It took almost 2 weeks to get that money back when it clearly never should've been taken out! I couldn't even put gas in my car to go to the bank to fill out the paper work.
Then, Nov. 2 I see that US Weekly took $60 out... I have NEVER read that magazine. I called the bank and we (together) called the Magazine company. I found out that the transaction was a renewal from a year ago to an address that I have Never lived at. It was done on a debit card that was eaten up by a Bank one ATM machine a year and half ago. I cancelled that card and was issued a new one the same day... New numbers. I asked the girl on the phone how thay could accept it when the card wasn't even valid. Again... I have to wait for the paper work and fill it out before anything can ber done. More than one magazine was ordered, and the charges are still going thru!
I don't understand how they can do that after talking to the magazine company... We together verified that it wasn't me, my address, or my account. I was later told that the other card hadn't been cancelled until the day I called to complain. Oh! And, of course, the overdraft fees are adding up!
I WILL be changing banks as soon as this is cleared up... I had to cancel a much needed surgery because of this and think that this bank should be put out of business.
