Washington Mutual Bank
Bank branch lost my deposit, stole $1,100 dollars from me!

I made an $1,100 deposit in this bank's night drop box the week before Memorial weekend. (End of May) I checked my account online the first weekend of June, to discover the deposit never posted.

I visited the branch on Monday, June 6th, and spoke to a
teller about the problem. She took my info and said she would call back. Nobody ever called. I visited again on Wednesday, June 8th, and inquired on the progress of their investigation. The employee told me they had done "everything they could do", and I should try to replace the deposit.

I told them this was unacceptable. The deposit consisted of money orders received from tenants living in a rental property. These tenants are leaving on bad terms (about to be evicted) so I cannot replace these money orders, nor do I have the money order numbers so they could be tracked. I told them to check their cameras, to verify me dropping the deposit in the box, and to call me back.

I received a call on Friday, June 10th from another bank
associate. He told me they had done "everything they could do" even after he admitted they had not checked the cameras to verify that I had dropped the deposit. I told him this was unacceptable, and that I wanted the tapes reviewed immediately. Again I was told I would be called back.

Big surprise, no phone call. I went to the branch again on Tuesday, June 14th. This time I went directly to the branch manager (her name is Xi Cabus, strange name, not sure how to pronounce) and told her to find my money. She knew nothing about the problem, so I told her I was going to camp out in her branch until something was done. I spent the whole afternoon there waiting, only to be told that I could not be located on the cameras, and that I should file a police report.

The police can't help me since I don't have the money order numbers. The manager and employees are simply not interested in finding this money. I suspect it's either still trapped in their drop box, or it was mishandled or stolen by a bank employee.in any event, nobody with Washington Mutual wants to help me. I even spoke with a member of their "Executive Response Team" that supposedly reports directly to the CEO. Even he used the phrase "What do you want us do about it?" in our conversation. Obviously this bank has a top level down service problem, and when they lose or steal your money, it's nobody's problem but yours, and you get stuck holding the bag.
