My son deposiited $1940 into his checking account on Friday&$490 in cash. Friday evening the deposit posted as pending. On Saturday there was no record of the deposit. Went to branch on Sunday and they stated that they have record of it going in but would need to call Proof office on Monday to verify. So $490 which should have been accessible for him on Friday was not accessible until Monday at the earliest. He should have just kept the cash in his cash box. Why do we use banks?
Called branch on Monday to see what the Proof office said... Error was at the branch so the earliest the cash would post would be midnight and the checks would not post until possibly Tuesday. They called me back to ask what could they do to help my son? I politely said put the cash in his account so that he has access to his money. Their answer he can go to a branch office in Maryland and they will verify the funds... If he takes the money out it would be an overdraft on his account but that would be okay since his cash deposit will go in tonight at midnight to cover it. They actually said that that was a remedy. How about since the error was on PNC put the cash in and call it a day. He should not have to find a branch— he should be able to use an atm.
