Ripoff charged late fee plus intrest on a paid if full account because payoff was received a day late due to snail mail forwarding

I paid in full my daughters account, with late fees and hight intrest 24.9%. She was behind, moved home, changed college but had bills that she was behind on. We live in rual america and the mail is slow to get from here to there and back again. My daughter is over 21 and fully responsible for bills. I bailled her out, once the bills were forwarded here. The credit service will not talk to me because it is her account, but had no problem taking my check to pay off the ballance. Then because my check was recieved "late" because od snail mail had the gall to charge on the account a late fee, $35, finance charge $24.89 total $59.89 on a zero ballance account. If i follow the statement correctly it states previous ballance xxxxxxx payement & credits xxxxxxx (total pay off) purchases & advances 0.00. How can they charge late fee and intrest on a zero ballance? This is unamerican and i let the visa person know this before i hung up on her. Any help please.
